Have you ever lived in a place for a long time and then left only later returning to find out it stole your heart? Well that is exactly how I feel about San Francisco! I’m going to blog about San Francisco because it deserves a post! Seriously… It is a beautiful city. And I went to school at UC Berkeley for four years so it’s definitely home to me…
However, while I was in college, I made very little effort to go to San Francisco for leisure. I came very few times and I don’t remember those times being to really see all that San Francisco has to offer. …How unfortunate! But I have come back to San Francisco several times since and it is still just as amazing as before. I often think about moving back… San Francisco, I think it’s time for me to come home!
Recently I came back to San Francisco because I was home (Fresno, California) for part of my summer and my cousin needed to renew his passport–in San Francisco. He asked me if I wanted to join in on the ride and y’all know, I said of course!
We arrived early in the morning and we dropped off the passport. We didn’t need to be back to pick up the passport until later that evening. So we went decided to eat breakfast before we do a little sightseeing. If you are ever in the area, check out Brenda’s French Soul Food Restaurant. It’s definitely a 10/10. It was awesome. I had shrimp and grits…my favorite! After we left, we decided to go see the Painted Ladies at Alamo Square. It was a beautiful sunny morning and the Painted Ladies were as gorgeous as ever. For some reason, I also thought that the Full House home was here and it turns out that it’s actually in a different neighborhood. Welps, we didn’t go there.
We also got to see some other victorian style homes just to the left of the Painted Ladies and they were more beautiful in my opinion.
After we left Alamo Square, we walked back to the area where we left the Passport and decided to get our car we parked because we first started to Uber and then we realized it was far more expensive than if we just use our own car. So then we went to Lombard Street. I remember coming here when I was younger, probably in 9th grade. I’m glad I came back because it was much more interesting to me at this age. And like wow, the most crooked street in the world…crazy! We were lucky to find parking right before you drive down the street. So we got out and walked all the way down the street, stopping every so often to capture parts of the street and then we went back up and got back in the car. Being back in San Francisco was tugging at my heart. I was falling in love with the Bay Area all over again and I started to think about all of my college memories and all of my college friends. Man, I love the bay!
Once we got back in the car, we drove down Lombard Street and headed towards Baker Beach to get a good view of the Golden Gate Bridge–another one of my favorites. It was such a clear beautiful day–I was a happy camper! As we were driving towards the bridge I kept seeing it and it was getting closer and closer to me. I got so excited.
We finally reached Baker Beach and immediately I felt like Baker Beach is super under rated. I was shocked to find very few people hanging out there. But the views of the bridge are just stunning. All I kept thinking about was how bad I wanted to move back. I played in the sand for awhile, meditated on the beach and just gleaned in awe at the bridge.
It was finally time to go back and pick up the passport and head back to Fresno. I left my heart in San Francisco. I will be back definitely sooner than later…
